What is SCSEP?
SCSEP is a federally funded, community service and work-based job training program for those 55 years old and up. It is our mission to help foster individual economic self-sufficiency and promote useful opportunities in community service assignments. Through the SCSEP, Operation ABLE guides committed participants towards their Path to Employment.
Am I Eligible?
Eligibility requirements include:
- Age 55 and UP
- Unemployed
- Low-income
- Desire to learn/refresh job skills as a Path to Employment
- Eligible to work in the United States

ABLE Can Help
Operation ABLE's SCSEP participants work an average of 20 hours per week; paid a stipend and are employed in a wide variety of community service activities. In addition, one receives job search assistance and guidance towards a more permanent job. Through ABLE's dedicated SCSEP staff, participants build confidence, and get what they need to compete in today’s job market.
* The Senior Community Service Employment Program is a U.S. Department of Labor equal opportunity employer/program administered by Operation ABLE and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs. SCSEP Participants must meet Federal low-income guidelines. They will be paid for training in their own community for up to 20 hours a week, get help searching for a job, and gain new work experience, which can lead to unsubsidized employment.

* The Operation ABLE Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is funded with $4,962,037million through the Department of Labor (DOL). This funding provides 90% of the support for Operation ABLE’s SCSEP program. The remaining 10%, $551,337 thousand is funded by Operation ABLE and community match through non-federal monies. Operation ABLE’s SCSEP program operates in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
